Notes is fine. It’s a bit like Twitter, potentially addictive and very time consuming. You can have a more informal exchange than you would have commenting on posts. You can also use it to comment on posts when really you should comment on the posts. Post notifications and Notes notifications appear to be amalgamated.
The main reason it has been time consuming for me is that I have found so much new, interesting content which I have been reading a great deal of. So - in my case, Notes has definitely increased my engagement with long form content.
Oh good, thanks for the heads-up. I was thinking about notes but hadn't found the time to get round to it. Possibly another Cambrian species that will go the way of the 8 track and COBOL.
Yes, agree. Here is, ironically a Note on my thoughts on this "Is it just me, or have you also spent less time reading and commenting on long form subtack posts since the launch of Notes, due to spending your time on substack messing about on Notes, and not being able to focus on taking in long form content and thoughtfully interacting there on the comments. In other words, is Notes hijacking your attention and focus away from what Substack is at its best?" https://substack.com/profile/32671565-gary-sharpe/note/c-14731355
