Notes: Been There, Done It, Got The T-Shirt - Now I'm Going To Concentrate On Publishing Posts
Notes is fine. It’s a bit like Twitter, potentially addictive and very time consuming. You can have a more informal exchange than you would have commenting on posts. You can also use it to comment on posts when really you should comment on the posts. Post notifications and Notes notifications appear to be amalgamated.
I’ll drop in occasionally but I prefer to use my article inbox to see what’s happening. Notes seems to be a bit too chaotic for that purpose. It has the potential to draw traffic away from the long form medium which, in my view, is not positive.
Yes, agree. Here is, ironically a Note on my thoughts on this "Is it just me, or have you also spent less time reading and commenting on long form subtack posts since the launch of Notes, due to spending your time on substack messing about on Notes, and not being able to focus on taking in long form content and thoughtfully interacting there on the comments. In other words, is Notes hijacking your attention and focus away from what Substack is at its best?" https://substack.com/profile/32671565-gary-sharpe/note/c-14731355
"potentially addictive and very time consuming". yeah wow and on purpose too.
