Good to call them out on this, Jaime. It seems to be a consistent theme to 'make mistakes' that conveniently allow a lie to race half-way round the world. Even if they subsequently recant, the 'nudge unit' are happy with their work.

It was a perfect foehn effect day today. I have taken a snapshot of the 500-1000mb thickness chart, will attempt to add a link later (Unable to attach to this). Believe the 19C, but not the 27, must be a glitch in automated model output. The thickness shows the warm tongue of air from North Africa extending northwards over Scotland. We are in the warm sector with a strong southerly wind flow, perfect for locations in the lee of mountains, especially where there is a long overland fetch. I am in Aberdeenshire, where we had an afternoon temp of 12 fallen to 10 now, but we need a sw for best effect. I too have been out in the wind which is strong blustery and cold, but the cold is from the wind chill.

Not like me to side with the Met Office, but meteorological explanation is spot on. It’s the political wing of the establishment that I take issue with.

I also looked on the Met Office app where it shows 27C My apple app gave 19C.

Let's see what they say when they do the write up on this new 'UK record'. See if they can emphasise Foehn Effect and not mention climate change once!

Yes, it’s always interesting listening for what they don’t say. Once upon a time, Bill Giles days etc., they certainly would, now, not so much. If they can hint at climate change, they will certainly by design allow the reader to draw that conclusion.

Looks like adding a link works well here.

Just watched the bbc weather - they say it reached 19.6 degrees but did not mention the effect

27C was also shown on some other sites so picking up on the same data feed no doubt. I've been unable to find the Kinlochewe wx station (doesn't appear official) and the nearest official station is ~45km away. Aultbea and Loch Glascarnoch were showing 16 and 17C respectively for the same timeframe. 19.6C from Foehn certainly possible. Hopefully Harry Hadrada over on X will take a look as he did with the Spanish record.

Harry said Kinlochwe is a good site with records back to 1950. He said he was surprised it took so long to beat the record due to local effects. He is not so favourable with today's new record from a very dodgy site;

Hi David, I hope I haven’t got you mixed up with someone else, but I’ve just started reading your book “There is no climate crisis” – a damning exposure of the climate change lies the globalist establishment and their puppet Uniparty politicians have been feeding us for decades. Your book ought to be proscribed reading for all politicians but sadly that would serve no purpose as I am convinced they all fully aware that the alleged man-made global warming narrative is a massive hoax.

It is blindingly obvious that the reason our treasonous Uniparty politicians push the Net Zero agenda supported by the likes of the bought-and-paid-for BBC, the Met Office and the CCC is nothing to do with climate. They are doing it at the behest of their Malthusian globalist overlords and paymasters to shackle and control the global populace (or at least the gullible, complacent West) through impoverishment, deindustrialisation, food deprivation and depopulation.

Their depraved behaviour throughout their Covid “plandemic” exposed their true colours. Never forget the Club of Rome declaration that “the real enemy, then, is humanity itself”.

Kinlochewe is about 10 miles inland from the west coast, about 60 miles from Nairn where I live. It’s been blowing a gale and I haven’t been out all day. I haven’t noticed any elevated temperature. The Met Office weather app gives the current (6pm) temperature at Kinlochewe as 10°C with westerly wind gusts of up to 39mph, falling to 3°C and much less windy at 9am tomorrow.

Here is the Telegraph report: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01/28/highest-ever-january-temperature-uk/. It is also widely reported elsewhere in the MSN, usually with no mention of the foehn effect as that tends to spoil the AGW narrative.

How they ever got to a forecast of 27°C I can’t imagine. That would be an unusually high temperature for mid-summer. As you say, what was the forecaster smoking?
