A bit of ‘real life’ away from contemplating the end of civilisation as we know it. All I’m trying to do is to get the council to do their damned job, for my benefit and for the benefit of other local residents, but they seem singularly intent upon resisting my efforts, even though it would require very little on their part to put matters right.
I'm not sure that beats the interaction a friend of mine had with a council back in the late 80's. I believe he had applied for some form of unemployment or housing benefit and, after waiting several weeks for a response, finally received a letter informing him that, according to their records, he didn't exist.
"Thankyou for your application. Unfortunately, the council has deemed that you are currently ineligible for housing benefit on the basis that you do not exist. Please contact us again if at some point in the future you start to exist and we will reconsider your application."
Stupid people in large groups. The best we can do is avoid them but if you are forced to engage then remember the average IQ is around 100. The people in these councils are generally the same useless individuals from "student councils" back in grade school. Appeal to their authority and emotional "rationale" no matter how nauseating that may be.
I found your substack difficult to read as I don't believe in a Divine Creator or Saviour - although I do mostly subscribe to Christian morality. I believe that the human race is on its own and it will sink or swim like all other species - on its own merits within its environment. I am optimistic for our future because our present resembles our past.
My faith is in people.
I thank you for your prayers and I hope you find paid employment soon.
It's just about a load of rubbish, not that many people would be interested. I've asked them to send me the photos which prove that they think I am a complete idiot, so watch this space.
Brit on Brit violence 🇬🇧

Haha. I can imagine it:

Would the load of rubbish be the Minutes of the last Council meeting? Or their budget review? I'm intrigued.
Don't despair! Sometimes what seems to be the end of civilisation is really just the fire in the forest that allows the new shoots to grow.
You are too much optimistic!

Forward the correspondence to your elected councillor.
Is that it?? Aren't you going to tell us what this is about or even share the email with us??!

..."not that many people would be interested..."?
Jaime, it's your take on the issue that would make it interesting, your words always ring true...
