A bit of ‘real life’ away from contemplating the end of civilisation as we know it.
All I’m trying to do is to get the council to do their damned job, for my benefit and for the benefit of other local residents, but they seem singularly intent upon resisting my efforts, even though it would require very little on their part to put matters right.
In an increasingly fractious exchange of emails, I accused them of assuming I must be an idiot. They didn’t like that at all. In response, they sent another grumpy email in which they proved, beyond all reasonable doubt, that they do indeed think I am an idiot!
Ho hum, such is life. I’m sure many readers have similar experiences with local councils, who are a law unto themselves it seems.
Stupid people in large groups. The best we can do is avoid them but if you are forced to engage then remember the average IQ is around 100. The people in these councils are generally the same useless individuals from "student councils" back in grade school. Appeal to their authority and emotional "rationale" no matter how nauseating that may be.
I'm not sure that beats the interaction a friend of mine had with a council back in the late 80's. I believe he had applied for some form of unemployment or housing benefit and, after waiting several weeks for a response, finally received a letter informing him that, according to their records, he didn't exist.
