'course, the Green Blob is like a huge aircraft carrier that has some serious momentum behind it. It will take a while to stop it and get it turned around and going in the right direction. And the "right direction" for the Green Blob is to completely dissolve itself. Will it happen in our lifetimes?

I have always found that a piece of seaweed hanging outside is as good as the met office predictions. When it's wet, it's raining.

Where I was brought up - Cheshire, with the Pennines clearly visible, forecasting was easy - if you could not see the Pennines, it was raining; if you could, it was about to. Worked every time.

I hope AI can improve short to mid-range weather forecasting, which is useless, and seems to be getting worse. The forecast for this weekend, as late as Friday morning, was for rain, whereas it has been dry and pleasant both days so far.

Yes, I noticed that. Don't plan your days according to the BBC or Met Office weather forecast. And definitely don't plan your life or that of your children and grandchildren according to the predictions of Met Office climate models!
