Just days after Emma Pinchbeck - a Green activist wonk who has no formal scientific qualifications but is apparently an ‘expert in whole economy decarbonisation’ - took over at the CCC, they are now recommending to the government that UK emissions are reduced by 81% against the levels set in the 1990s, by the year 2035.
Wonks can recommend all they like. They'll be ignored just like every other reduced by a certain year (which keeps getting put back) is. It's just greenwashing procrastination. Ignore it. Politicians do.
This is why they wrote the Climate Change Act the way they did. In Section 2 it says emissions targets can be changed if there is a change in the science. To uninformed people this seems reasonable. But what it should say is “science verified it is safe to apply to the public” rather than any old hypothetical modelling virtual reality output. Imagine trying that with new bridge design.

80% sounds guess-y. 81% sounds very science-y.
Oh and we have to give up meat and dairy.....well, I'm from a rural part of North Yorkshire and grew up in a farming community so they can sod off.
When I read "CCC" my mind went, she took over the Chinese Communist Party? Oh wait, that's CCP.
CCC is just the UK's version of that! ;-)

The net zero suicide pact for Britain just can come fast enough for satan's little helpers
These people live in Cloud cuckoo land. It has become a world of fiction and fantasy.
Sorry about the typo.

Thanks, but I don't seem to have a three dot menu, or at least I haven't been able to find it yet.
I lied. I've just found it. Thanks.
2035 is the new 2030....
