Many of us are angry, very angry, and we’ve taken to social media and sites like this to express our anger, in our own inimitable fashion.
But if you’re looking at serving 2 to 3 years for straying into the fuzzy grey area between what is legal protest and illegal ‘hate speech’ or incitement, most of us are going to err on the side of caution and self-censor, right? It’s only hardened criminals who look at doing porridge as an occupational hazard and it’s only genuine psychos who don’t give even give a second thought as to the potential personal liberty-destroying consequences of their actions.
It’s grotesque to see actual rioters, ‘online rioters’ and even people expressing their sentiments online being arrested and now being given extremely harsh prison sentences. It is also extremely concerning and it is inevitably promoting widespread anxiety amongst an angry but law-abiding general populace. I am very concerned, for the future of this country, but also for my own personal safety, wondering is some government or police spy is looking at my tweets or Substack output, searching for something, anything, which could justify my arrest and even prosecution and imprisonment. When is plod going to kick my door in? That is not how law-abiding but angry citizens should feel. But it is our harsh reality at this moment.
It is my opinion that the government and the authorities are deliberately exploiting the Southport riots and exploiting the fuzzy grey area between that which is legal and that which is not in order to provoke a sense of widespread anxiety amongst a rebellious populace and thus induce self-censorship, which results in the chilling of free speech online. That is a psyop, that is mass behaviour modification and it is painfully reminiscent of the Project Covid Fear psyop inflicted upon us by the psychologists working for the government’s Behavioural Insights Team during the so called ‘Pandemic’. I don’t believe the resemblance is merely coincidental.
Cheshire Police put out this tweet, which was corrected by Silkie Carlo. Someone (can’t for the life of me think who) replied sarcastically:
In actual fact, I think you don’t even have to intentionally incite violence or racial hatred; only that your communication should reasonably expect to result in such. The interpretation of ‘reasonably expect’ is where the fuzzy grey area between legal and illegal comes in.
But it’s not just the police and government who are putting the fear of the autocratic state into people; it’s epidemiology Professors at UCL too:
No, that tweet alone did not result in a 3 year prison sentence; it was a whole series of tweets which were taken in aggregate and in context and which the judge decided passed the ‘legal test’ to impose a custodial sentence - which as we can see was very harsh in relation to sentences handed out for more serious crimes which happen not to have been committed by anti-immigration ‘racists’. People causally reading this tweet, without reading the news item which explains more about the case, will wrongly get the impression that it was just one angry tweet which resulted in a jail sentence of over three years. That is bound to create widespread anxiety among those who have posted similarly angry, but ill-judged tweets. That is going to result in law-abiding people being a lot more careful about expressing their lawful anger and dissent online, or even giving up expressing it altogether, because the thought of being arrested and even jailed is terrifying for them. That’s a win for the government and the authorities.
Hell, Rowley is even threatening to extradite Americans for ‘hate speech’ online! It’s not just us hapless angry Brits who are in the firing line from these Crooks (get it?).
Which makes me wonder. Was it just a coincidence that this truly appalling Marxist/fascist government came to power on American Independence Day, July 4th? Or is it symbolic? Is this truly outrageous government overreach as regards American citizens a message? Is it in fact the still disgruntled ancient British Deep State saying to Americans: ‘We’re coming for you, 248 years after you declared independence from us. We’re still here and you are still subject to the British rule of law’? I know that sounds really fanciful but never underestimate the grievances harboured by the British Deep State. They are determined to crush the British people under heel for speaking out. They might be really pissed off that the American Declaration of Independence protects Americans even now from the tyranny of home rule.
Update: Here is a tweet by Martin Daubney which I was not aware of when I wrote this post:
I’m not the only one who can see the striking similarity between what’s happening now and what happened during Covid.
What we saw during Covid, when Canada, Australia, and New Zealand went full authoritarian in a matter of weeks, seems almost meek compared to what's going on in the UK this year.
In this case, the term Orwellian is in no way hyperbolic.
The UK government is trying to force a reaction to give them an excuse to crack down. They will get their excuse even if they have to lie about it. The crackdown is coming and it’s too late to stop it. England is lost.
