Here in Spokane several major fires have definitely been started by political activists, supposedly on behalf of the homeless. The cops arrested one of the arsonists, then the idiot Sorosian prosecutor released her. She ran across the state to Tukwila where the cops arrested her again.

Another male arsonist was reported earlier.

Tonight another female was caught and arrested. Not clear if it's the same one or not.

These arsonists are simply walking along a road lighting matches and tossing them into the grass.

If I may make what I think is a needed correction. These different groups are not blaming it on anything but the weather. They are blaming it all on the same thing: human agency. They differ only in the methods employed and by whom and for what what reasons but they all blame some group or another of mankind.

Yes, they all have in common the apparent psychological imperative to attribute weather events to human agency rather than natural causes.

I think I may have mentioned it here before , but I worked on a “weather modification” project in the 1970’s, back on the days when there were occasional headlines about “the Russians manipulating our weather” (plus ça change...). These types of articles were greeted in the coffee room with howls of derision by the meteorologists and atmospheric physicists. Anything capable of generating sufficient energy, a staggeringly enormous amount, to create or change the course of a storm would not be, how should we say, easy to hide.

I’m extremely skeptical of claims that some satellite or even terrestrial power source would be up to the task. Were such a thing to exist, there would be no need for “fossil” fuels because of the abundant energy it would be capable of creating.

Agreed. Seeding is used more often than we think, and hail cannons (Grelifuges) are also used in Europe to protect vineyards. Both methods work "some of the time" to enhance or limit one storm.

Weather modification on a localised scale (such as seeding rainclouds) is a thing and has had moderate success. But hacking into the global atmospheric circulation to achieve highly targeted weather modification on a localised scale is just pure fantasy.

It will be a long, long time until humans are capable of commanding such energy. Maybe by then mankind will have tamed its hubris.
