The Eco-Anxiety Fraud - Psychologists Claim The Imaginary 'Climate Crisis' Is Real, Thus Exacerbating And Institutionalising Eco-Anxiety
There was a long period when Oliver Marsden struggled to leave the house. The 24-year-old was paralysed by the knowledge that he was burning through the earth’s resources, whatever he did and wherever he went.
“I worried about all the food I ate, the transport I took, the heating in my house, the energy I used to charge my laptop,” he said. “I felt this huge guilt constantly, this massive burden.”
The more terrified he became, the more he read about the reality of climate change. That made things even worse. The medical student, from Bristol, believes his concern for the planet’s future directly caused a mental health crisis, and led to him seeking help for the first time in his life for anxiety and depression.
How dare we!
Thus opens a Times report on the scourge of the modern age: the debilitating increase in so-called ‘eco-anxiety’, especially among impressionable youngsters. But don’t worry, clinical psychologists are here to help and understand and provide solutions to struggling individuals:
In a new survey from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, 73 per cent of UK 16-to-24-year-olds said that climate change had a negative effect on their mental health, up 20 per cent on 2020.
As a result, young people are being offered specialist mental health help at schools and universities. They are creating their own support groups and are going to GPs and clinicians with depression, anxiety and even post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which they say is caused by the climate crisis.
“This is not a mental illness,” said Dr Emma Lawrance, a research fellow at Imperial College London. “It’s a very understandable, empathetic reaction to an existential threat.”
Got that? Dr Emma Lawrance, Mental Health Innovations Fellow at the Institute of Global Health Innovation, insists that the ‘climate crisis’ is a real, imminent, existential threat, thus people suffering from climate anxiety are not suffering from any mental illness, they’re just naturally responding to the very real threat of impending doom. In that case, I must be mentally ill, because I don’t give a rat’s arse about a demonstrably non-existent ‘climate crisis’! There’s the difference you see: I claim to be able to demonstrate scientifically that there is no imminent existential climate threat to human beings or the planet; Lawrance and her ilk, the majority of the mainstream media and most captured scientific institutions and other organisations claim that there is an existential climate threat, manifesting right now, in real time, supposedly demonstrable via computerised modelling predictions, a modest rise in global mean surface temperature since 1850, some melting ice. starving polar bears and some bad weather. Who do impressionable young people mostly choose to believe? The mainstream of course. Hence ‘climate anxiety’.
The psychologists are creating their own study subjects; they’re putting food on their own dinner plate. Nothing like perpetuating a problem which you have been employed to address. This is the Big Pharma business philosophy: make people ill so you can ‘treat’ them by developing more and more expensive drugs. Behind their fancy academic titles, these fraudsters are nothing more than charlatans, snake oil salesmen out to generate a free lunch by selling useless potions to cure ‘ailments’ generated either by fear or bad medicine itself. The Profits of Doom selling their wares.
Eco-anxiety is treated in an “entirely different way” from other forms of anxiety by professionals, said Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams, co-director of Climate Psychologists. “In the therapy room, it’s difficult to ask ‘can we challenge that thought?’, because the climate crisis is real.”
He continued: “We tend to liken climate anxiety to living with a chronic illness. We cannot deny its existence, but the decisions we make, and how we adapt and care for ourselves, can have a huge bearing on the outcome.”
It’s beginning to look a lot like Long Covid. How convenient: ‘we can’t treat your illness, because it’s incurable, but we can help you live with it, by sucking up lots of grant money from private and public institutions and by awarding ourselves fancy titles and professional accolades. So I say: “Hey, you, ‘climate shrinks’; look over here! Me and my friends do deny its existence! We’re the real nutjobs. Come and put us on the couch!” Analyze That, as they say. Or are you too afraid that we might reveal you to be the charlatans that you are, by conclusively demonstrating that we are actually sane, rational, well informed responsible individuals who just happen to be immune to climate change propaganda, the same propaganda which is driving your stock-in-trade clients mad with worry?
But it’s not propaganda, not misinformation, disinformation, or deliberate manipulation of the truth, it’s direct ‘knowledge’ apparently, exposure to ‘reality’ - like forest fires, starving polar bears and melting ice:
The condition is also made worse with knowledge: many scientists who work in the environmental research sector begin to suffer with eco-anxiety as they come to terms with the reality of the situation.
She said even indirect exposure to the climate crisis — such as viewing videos of burning forests, or seeing starving polar bears among melting glaciers — can cause PTSD.
We all know of course that our thoroughly scrupulous climate alarmists would never stoop to ‘scaring the pants off’ children and young adults; not like Hancock did with Covid, or whatever. We all know the climate change industry and its promoters have a long and prestigious history of promoting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, for instance this starving polar bear:
"This is what starvation looks like," wrote one of the photographers, Paul Nicklen. "The muscles atrophy. No energy. It's a slow, painful death."
Mr Nicklen's colleague, Cristina Mittermeier, said: "We cried as we filmed this dying bear. This is the face of climate change."
The clip has gone viral, widely shared as a warning about the dangers of climate change. But is there more to it?
Turns out it probably wasn’t ‘the face of climate change’ after all. Turns out it was most probably the face of serious illness:
Mr Nicklen and Ms Mittermeier are co-founders of the conservation group Sea Legacy, with a declared mission to "use the power of storytelling to create the change we want to see".
Canada's National Post newspaper argues: "These images aren't the work of a scientist, an impartial documentarian or even a concerned bystander. They are part of a very calculated public relations exercise."
This particular animal could also simply have been sick. Biologist Jeff Higdon, writing on Twitter, speculated that it could have some form of aggressive cancer.
"It's not starving because the ice suddenly disappeared and it could no longer hunt seals," he said. "The east Baffin coast is ice free in summer. It's far more likely that it is starving due to health issues." However, he warned that he could not be sure.
What happened is the bastards filmed this poor bear as it died a slow, painful death, not thinking to intervene by calling the authorities to put it out of its misery, just so they could promote it as ‘the face of climate change’. It’s hideous, ugly and brutal - but it sure ain’t the face of climate change; it’s the face of climate change propaganda, that’s what it is. The same climate change propaganda which is driving kids mad.
Now we have a new report by the UN which will drive them even more mad:
The growing eco-anxiety among some young people comes as the world’s leading climate scientists will warn in a landmark report tomorrow that global warming has progressed so far that sea-level rises are now unavoidable.
The paper, produced by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, is the starkest warning yet about the speed and impact of warming.
Extracts from a draft version of the report, which could change, says there is now “high confidence” that sea levels “will remain elevated for thousands of years”, even if the world starts cutting emissions now.
Expect scary headlines to be splashed all over the mainstream media. It’s what they do. Then the rent-seeking psychologists can come along and pick up the pieces.
Fearporn for the sheeple.
“It’s a very understandable, empathetic reaction to an existential threat.” Another academic makes a fool of herself but most people (including me probably) wouldn't have spotted that.
The barbarians are at the city gates and they're wielding sharp sticks while the citizens with their automatic weapons cower in fear.
