That was probably because a hundred thousand or so economically inactive migrants were granted citizenship!

By coincidence via Jeff Childers, it has just emerged that the US government fiddled the statistics to overstate the health of the Biden economy, unexpectedly exposed in a Politico article: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/02/11/democrats-tricked-strong-economy-00203464.

Yep, sometimes government is left with no choice but to manipulate official economic statistics because that darn capitalism will let you down every time it seems to be needed most.

0.1% blimey. It looks like a case of using the roundup rather than the round function in the ONS excel spreadsheet. It usually comes into its own on a bad news day.
