No, 1050 Kids Haven't Vanished Into Thin Air, Including Their Parents. Please Just Stop This!

I’m seeing social media and Substack postings to this effect. It’s very concerning, extremely unsettling in fact, to contemplate that this might actually be the case. So I did some basic research. Yes, earlier in the week, 1050 Lahaina residents were reported as still missing, many of those children. Whilst that list is still actively being investigated, a new ‘validated list’ of 388 missing persons has been drawn up, which consists only of missing people “reported by their first and last name, as well as a verified contact number for the person who originated the report.” This avoids the possibility of duplication in the original list of 1050 people.

The new figures stand in sharp contrast to the at least 1,000 people who were deemed "unaccounted for" earlier this week. Merrill says the smaller figure is a "subset" of the main list, and that officials "will not rest" until they know the status of each of the people on that larger list.

A basic criteria was used to 'validate' names on the list

Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said the "validated list" reflects a simple criteria: people who were reported by their first and last name, as well as a verified contact number for the person who originated the report.

Beyond those requirements, the county did not initially explain the discrepancy between the much larger list and the new list, both of which, it has said, were the product of FBI analysis.

1732 previously reported missing have since been accounted for.

As it released the validated list, the county said 1,732 people who have been reported as unaccounted for at some point during the disaster have since been found safe and well.

So can we all take a breather please and stop inventing/spreading horror stories about ‘vanished’ children. It’s not helpful and it’s deeply troubling to read these posts. Let’s wait until the facts come in and the Maui police and FBI finally give us an updated, completely validated list of missing persons. Then if things still don’t add up, start asking questions, but don’t uncritically spread 2 day old Twatter posts like this:

It’s bad enough countering the fantastical claims of the Blue Laser DEWs crowd and the geoengineering weather modificationists, but dragging real or imagined ‘vanished’ children into the conspiracy net is not on.
