In the beginning there was darkness, it was Friday in March of 2020, Friday the 13th when they canceled the 2020 London Marathon. A wave of dark panic had descended over the land, over all lands as the fear of the new corona virus swept out of the East like a giant tidal wave. Washing away all reason all science all restraint and depositing the foul stink of fear and fanaticism everywhere.
Within ten days of that Friday the 13th most nations around the world, all the different cultures, different languages, different religions all began to march in lock step together down the street as if they were a high school marching band that had trained together for years. An award winning marching band, each member in perfect step, each playing the same song in perfect tune as if they had practiced this number for years.
Then they all began to sing the same eerie song; Lockdown! You are all bad prisoners and we are going to lockdown this prison to punish you! We mean protect you. Wear your mask every day all the time, to bed to the shower to work, don’t forget to kiss your wife goodbye on your way to your zoom meeting down the hall… thru your mask and thru hers. On your lunch break you may have zoom sex with your wife or significant other for 30 minutes… no more!

Eugenics was indeed the scientific consensus up until just after that little incident in the mid 20th century. I wonder if in the distant future it will be seen to have lasted longer than the Covid or Climate Change Consensus.
