Do an internet search. You will find very little information on the actual ignition source of the Hawaii wildfires; plenty of speculation on what made the fires so intense and why they spread so rapidly, more than a few publications willing to link the fires with ‘climate change’ in the absence of any solid evidence whatsoever. 89 people have tragically lost their lives so far and this figure is sure to increase significantly. Investigating what might have started the blazes should surely be a top priority, no? Certainly a lot more important than baseless speculation about ‘climate change’. You would think that the Governor of Hawaii would be more keen to know the source of ignition of the fires which have devastated Hawaii, rather than plug the ‘climate change did it’ narrative, but that’s not the case.
Why is that? Authorities estimate that 98% of fires in Hawaii are human-caused. That includes arson and carelessness. It could possibly include downed power lines. Did a sparking power cable ignite the fire which eventually consumed the entire town of Lahaina? Or was it started by an arsonist? Or just carelessness? Why isn’t the MSM asking these questions? The nearest I can get to an answer in the press is this:
One of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii's history has killed at least 67 people and wiped out the historic town of Lahaina. Four factors came together to spark the devastating wildfires.
1. A small fire that burned out of control
It all began with a small forest fire, though it's not yet clear what started that fire and whether it could be linked to arson.
In any case, firefighters could not extinguish the blaze and on Wednesday night the flames began to spread very quickly. Fanned by extremely strong winds, the fire was soon out of control, a similar situation to the recent wildfires on the Greek island of Rhodes. In both cases, the fire spread so fast that many people panicked and jumped into the sea to escape the flames.
‘Not yet clear’ what started the original small forest fire but ‘it could be linked to arson’.
The LA Times reports that the original small blaze was 100% contained in the morning but that it suddenly roared back into life in the afternoon. How could that happen? Did fire crews not properly extinguish the small blaze as reported . . . . . or was it re-lit?
Bulletins posted on Maui County’s Facebook page indicate that the first report of a brush fire in Lahaina came in at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday, and evacuations were ordered within three minutes around Lahaina Intermediate School on the town’s northeastern edge, at its highest elevations.
The blaze hit as fire crews were battling another wildfire farther east.
But the sense of alarm seemed to fade by around 10 a.m., when Maui County said it had declared the Lahaina brush fire “100% contained,” although it did warn of power outages limiting the ability to pump water and a report of a downed electric line in the area.
The Lahaina fire then flared up in the afternoon. Maui County said around 3:30 p.m. that the fire forced the closure of the Lahaina Bypass, a major road near the intermediate school also known as Highway 3000.
With very little or no warnings given to residents, this reignited fire spread very quickly and engulfed the town, causing huge damage and loss of life. The obvious question to ask is what caused the original ‘100% contained’ brush fire to suddenly reignite? Downed power line? Arson? Carelessness? Or was the original blaze still smouldering? Why isn’t the MSM asking these questions when they are so happy to speculate on the alleged role caused by a non-existent ‘climate crisis’?
Are Biden and the UN going to officially declare a ‘climate emergency’ as early as next week. Are they going to use the Maui wildfires partly as an excuse to do so without even knowing what sparked the fires in the first place and without bothering to examine the actual science which shows that natural weather and climate variability has played by far the largest role in the drought conditions currently affecting Hawaii, that the proliferation of highly flammable, non-native grasses has provided the fuel for the blazes?
To me, it looks like a precedent-setting an example of how we can expect them to react to upcoming disasters. They are not in it together.
probably a test for the climate change narrative.
