This is Sky News, right now: Except, right now, it’s no longer a tropical cyclone, it’s a post tropical cyclone: So when did it strike California as a tropical storm ‘for the first time in eight decades’? At 08 47 this morning (just over 2 hours ago):
Having just "survived" Hilary, while it was a fair amount of rain, for August, it was NOT like surviving a hurricane.
I'm sure there were unprepared and unlucky folks who suffered somehow, but for the vast majority (isn't that the cornerstone of 'muh democracy!'?) is was just a very wet early fall storm.
At least we won't have to worry about the the usual summer wildfires for a week or so.
Seems unlikely. Hilary formed about 10 days ago in the Pacific off the coast of central South America. Maybe just strange coincidence, although solar activity is peaking around this time and we know that solar activity can affect seismic as well as atmospheric activity.
Interestingly, Piers Corbyn - actually a qualified astrophysicist - has written extensively on the subject and been eerily successful in some of his predictions.
Thanks for the link. I've had a brief look at the paper. It looks like this is a very controversial area and it's much too early to say that a causal mechanism is operating let alone what it might be.
From what I can see in the paper, one could even turn it round and speculate that it's the EQs that are causing local disturbances to the Earth's magnetic field and thus influencing the orbiting instruments!
It's encouraging that people are studying this. Who knows, it may even in the long term help with EQ prediction.
Just another case of the MSM hyping a weather event to cause unnecessary alarm and promote the twisted 'climate crisis' agenda:

Sky News have confirmed that Hilary was downgraded to a post tropical cyclone at 10am UK time, so just 1 hr 13 mins after making landfall.
"But it is much more complicated when it comes to tropical cyclones - such as Storm Hilary was before being downgraded at 10am UK time."
The earthquake is peculiar... why would there be an earthquake at the same time? More underwater volcanic/seismic activity causing weather phenomena?

"we know that solar activity can affect seismic as well as atmospheric activity." Wow, I didn't know that. Can you say what the mechanism(s) is/are?

Lots of similar stuff in the scientific literature. The exact mechanism is still a bit of a mystery I believe but the strong correlation is there.
