“But its combination with the non-natural marine heat waves made these records so breathtaking,” said Woodwell Climate Research Center scientist Jennifer Francis.
In my local paper the article included this quote following a mention of El Nino; "Its combination with the non-natural maritime heat waves made these records breathtaking" said Woodwell Climate Research Center scientist Jennifer Francis.
Move along it is not all natural so there is nothing to see here.
Thank you for your good work explaining the most likely cause.
That is one extremely confused and confusing article. They appear to be saying that the 10 record months are largely explained by El Nino but that it's the combination of El Nino warmth with "non-natural marine heatwaves" which has really made the run of record hot months remarkable. Then it's implied somehow that GHGs in the atmosphere are responsible for the 'non natural marine heatwaves', meaning that the atmosphere must be rapidly heating the oceans! Crazy. Still, Jennifer Francis thinks that global warming causes extreme cold weather, so what can you expect?
HI Jaime, You are quite right not to supply the link to this appalling Guardian article, which for some reason appeared in my news feed this morning.
Their fake man- made CO2 global waming hypothesis is falling apart and they are reduced to spouting any old tosh.
The Guardian article quotes a propagandist hand-wringing because, he says, over the last 15 years global temperatures have risen "at a rate of 0.3C per decade". However, if he had cherry-picked his 15 years up until about a year ago, the rate of warming would have been about 0.0C per decade.
"Because the jet stream, stupid": my CAGW friends tell me the jet stream is "stuck" and that's because of climate change! What's the best evidence to refute that, Jaime?
The thing is, there's not much real evidence to suggest that global warming is making the jet stream more 'wavy', meaning that it gets 'stuck' in some positions, causing extreme weather. I wrote about it here:
"Such wave patterns are quite natural. There is no convincing evidence that the atmosphere becomes wavier (thus with more heatwaves and cold waves) under global warming. I have read all the literature on this and have published on the topic myself in the peer-reviewed literature.
The waviness of the upper-level flow was particularly high-amplitude this winter and spring, producing enhanced cooling in some areas and warming in others. Such as the cool/wet conditions in California, and warmth in southern Canada.
Let me repeat: there is no reason to think this waviness is other than the expression of the natural variability of the atmosphere.
[Cliff Mass]
Even though there are continued and repeated attempts to link jet stream configuration with generalised global warming, Cliff Mass is very much not alone in dismissing what is essentially just a hypothesis because of a lack of clear, credible, robust scientific evidence."
The certainly ramping up the climate disaster psyop. Or is it #fearporn
There is an Associated Press article on the 10 months of record heat (https://apnews.com/article/climate-heat-record-hot-march-copernicus-33621288477a660d176ac3ff4a06e5c1) that includes the following gem quotes:

This must be what she is refering to https://www.noaa.gov/news/ongoing-marine-heat-waves-in-us-waters-explained
The reference to "non-natural marine heatwaves" was a new one for me.
Always enjoy your articles. Particular smile today with 'Spong dog hair pants'. PS - when I mention Hunga Tonga to people they've never heard of it😢
"Guardian Says We're Headed For 'Uncharted Territory'"
Really...
It has been my experience through over seven decades that we enter "Uncharted Territory" every time we wake up in the morning!
Uncharted is just code word for elitists to bring out their crayons to make a chart that inevitably makes them richer and more tyrannical.

He also doesn't mention that the recent spike in global temperatures happened at a rate of about 7C per decade. see https://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/UAH_LT_1979_thru_March_2024_v6_20x9.jpg.
Whatever caused that spike, it certainly wasn't man-made CO2.

Unfortunately, I'm getting blocked from seeing that graph - maybe because I use a VPN.
Try this. It's the link to NOAA's Twitter/X page.

Haha, yes, they really snookered themselves with that post!
