I'd picked up somewhere that there was evidence that Russia had been financing lobbying against fracking in Europe. (I believe it was on Substack but can't find it). That would make sense as it meant that Europe became reliant on Russian gas. We know how well that worked out....
Perhaps we need to consider which audience those statements are meant for as well. By which I mean that DJT publicly labelled the Green Scam as exactly that; and he wants to get US LNG in there as the long-term replacement for Russian gas, before economies like Germany completely implode due to disastrous green policies which lead to the end of much more of its fuel-hungry heavy industry.....thus reducing demand for anyone's gas, be it Russian or US. Just a theory of course.
Also, I am a bit befuddled as to why Russia, which has abundant natural fuels (noticed how "fossil fuel" is a nice pejorative term, as if we are destroying something priceless?), would want to spend money and resources pushing a "renewables" narrative in client states.
I’m lukewarm on Trump and JD, but they’re infinitely preferable to the alternative, much like a shit sandwich is preferable to a bowl of steaming hot diarrhoea. however the US establishment seems intent on making sure that the world sees Russia and China as existential threats and the US as the Hollywoodised good guys. With the exception of a few like Mearsheimer and Sachs, the US simply doesn’t have people as competent as Russia, capable of understanding Russia’s goals, arguments or capabilities, which makes any sort of peace deal impossible. Trump and co truly believe the US can just push everyone around. He can’t, and the US will get more angry and impotent about that fact as time goes on.
It seems plausible that Russia is "The biggest funder of the green energy movement in Europe" (as distinct from the climate change hoax), as JD Vance claims.
Ben has looked very closely at the web of funding sources for Green energy in Europe and the US. I believe he is correct here. Russia hardly gets a look in:
I would need to know specifically what he means by funding. Is Vance referring to funding movements, like the US did in the Ukraine? I do not know.
However consider that you misread the peace treaty proposal.
"Secretary Rubio stays focused on the primary objective, to get both sides to agree to come to the table, with an interim goal to talk about the conditions for a 30-day ceasefire" (to TALK about)
Which Putin is close to agreeing to do with conditions. In state diplomacy expect all kinds of twists and turns. However know this, Trump has warned Europe and the Ukraine, "Ukraine may be Russian again." He will not get drawn in, and Putin knows this as well. Putin will "talk" about this, insist on his terms, and if met a ceasefire will commence. And Putin and Trump will both verify if Ukraine violates it.
It is easy to get worked up theses days, and hard to read all the disparate sources.
Also, "The Russian president said: ‘We agree with the proposals for the ceasefire, but our position is based on the assumption the ceasefire will lead to a long-term peace’.”
So interm success and an agreement to talk abot a cease fire, not to a cease fire.

Best not to poke a stick at a sleeping bear.

"Were we conned?", she asked.

I would also hold off on hopes for "the ceasefire deal". Trump and Vance are fully aware of what caused the war in the first place and will be aware that Putin's stance is realistic: https://x.com/Megatron_ron/status/1900113365630099590?t=2Xo0cYb1c-Hdt_1Rtd5KTw&s=19.

That’s my thinking too.
How many of our leaders took the covid jabs? What have the covid jabs done to their brains and their ability to think straight, to think logically?
