France is now banning car-washing, watering the garden, filling paddling pools and . . . . . buying paddling pools. Because if you don’t have a paddling pool, you won’t be tempted to break the law and fill it with precious water:
"We need to get out of our culture of abundance," said Mr Bechu.
Explaining why authorities had decided to take the step to ban sales of garden pools, he said: "It is to prevent people from being tempted to do what they are in fact not allowed to do anyway - which is to fill them.
"Climate change is here and now. We need to get out of our culture of abundance. We need to show far more restraint in how we use the resources we have."
Quite right. We can’t be having this ‘culture of abundance’ anymore. The eco-Communists want to ration everything. Because that way, they control everything. But they obviously haven’t thought this through very carefully. You can still fill up the car. Which means you can drive out of the regions of southern France where the paddling pool sales bans are in place and buy one elsewhere - presuming they haven’t got the paddling pool police set up on roads into and out of the region.
But it’s the authoritarian nature of it all which sticks in my throat, the nannying, the urge to control our lives, indeed immiserate our lives, in order to prevent an imaginary ‘climate crisis’ which is supposedly our fault for hitherto enjoying the ‘culture of abundance’, for which the only ‘cure’ is top-down rationing from the powers that be. Expect a lot more of this as every heatwave, every drought, every deluge, storm etc. is exploited to the full to impose restrictions upon our freedoms and way of life. It’s the One Health agenda promoted by the WHO, the same as Agenda 2030 promoted by the UN, the same as the Great Reset promoted by Klaus BumSchwab and the WEF. Do NOT comply. Thwart their plans at every turn. When they say jump, kick them in the balls.
It's hard to know if these mass delusions are engineered and/or nudged by hostile outside forces, or some kind of upwelling of madness that emerges from time to time. These are certainly interesting times. We're being impoverished by the day, as "inflation" or more accurately the loss of value of fiat currencies, steals our savings, and the state appropriates more and more to itself, to distribute to its loyal subjects. I'm sure I'm not alone in having lost all trust and faith in systems of government and regulation; I struggle to believe that I could ever have been so foolish and naïve. I now instinctively assume that I am being lied to by anyone in a position of authority or "expertise". Where do we go from here? I'm at a loss.
