Having lived in intensive agricultural areas for quite a few years, I really do suspect that modern farming methods contribute greatly to soil evaporation. Bare soils are regularly exposed to the elements, for months in total, throughout the year and even the growing season.
As I observed in another comment elsewhere, the weakest scientists go into climate. A field that demands fealty to unquestionable articles of faith will repel the smart kids, and attract only half-wits and shameless lying grifters.
If it’s based on modelling it’s notoriously loaded with analysts with conflict of interest like the pandemic models. Sounds like serious hogwash and neglects to mention geo- engineering and intentional weather manipulation even the CSIRO in Aus admits to engaging in such.
I wonder if they will ever do a study on how regenerative farming, conditions soil to make the land drought/flood/fire proof?
But such a study would be akin to studying the health of vax/unvax people....

I love the way that the Met office refers to "rainfall deficit", when it has clearly been pissing down almost constantly for the last two months.
All of them are snake oil salesmen.
More Xbox science...Yawn...

I bet I could make a pretty penny thinking up new stats and new jobs accounting for those new stats that hide the scams.
