Fart-Proofing Cows To Save The Planet - Arla, Aldi, Tesco and Morrisons Are Going To Poison Animal Feed To Reduce Methane

This is way beyond a joke now. They are actually poisoning farm animals - and poisoning consumers in the process - in order to stop cows farting so much and supposedly imperilling the atmosphere.

No mention as to whether these dairy products will be clearly labelled so consumers can make an informed choice as to whether they wish to participate in this batshit crazy-cruel experiment. Until I get further information, I won’t be buying Arla products at all and I’m currently trying to ascertain whether this includes the supermarkets’ own brand products not labelled as Arla. There’s already a significant growing resistance from the public to this latest stunt. People have had enough of this shite. The climate crazies are now messing with our food and torturing farm animals with untested chemical products for no reason other than to virtue signal their intent to ‘save the planet’ from an imaginary climate crisis or worse, in a deliberate and calculated ploy to destroy animal agriculture.

So what is this supposed fart-reducing animal feed additive? It’s called Bovaer. According to Robin Monotti:

How it works

In a cow's rumen, microbes help break down food. This releases hydrogen and carbon dioxide. An enzyme combines these gases to form methane. Bovaer® is a feed supplement that suppresses the enzyme, so less methane gets generated. Just ¼ teaspoon in a cow’s daily feed takes effect in as little as 30 minutes. As it acts, Bovaer® is safely broken down into compounds already naturally present in the rumen.

Wait, so less methane is generated from the combination of hydrogen and CO2, which would appear to imply that there is more hydrogen and CO2 available to be expelled from the digestive tract - either from the back end or the front end. Supposedly, even though methane is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2, it’s half-life in the atmosphere is much less than CO2, so exactly what is the overall ‘climate benefit’ of this additive? The unused hydrogen and CO2 has to go somewhere. I presume it’s not absorbed back into the gut, so it gets expelled. Result: more CO2 from cow farts and burps vs. less methane. Cows poisoned. Consumers poisoned. Brilliant.

What appears to be driving the introduction of this product is the pseudoscientific mythology behind limiting global warming to 1.5C; an ideological fixation on stopping immediate global warming (from methane) and not worrying too much about longer term global warming from carbon dioxide.

I can’t even begin to describe how batshit crazy and unscientific this is without firing off a string of facts encompassed by a blanket of expletives! So I won’t. I think it’s fairly obvious by now what ideological claptrap this whole notion of restricting global warming to 1.5C is.

Still, nuclear silver lining - maybe we won’t have to worry about all this nonsense for much longer when we all get vaporised by carbon-neutral nukes during a 10-minute WW3 and the problem of overpopulation and human activity is solved permanently. Maybe they’ll wait until Christmas - Season of Goodwill to All Mankind and all that.

Update 30/11/2024 - It’s worse than we thought

Potentially, most non organic supermarket own brand milk currently on sale could be adulterated by cows fed Bovaer:

So that’s basically all major supermarket own brand and Arla products which might already be tainted by milk sourced from cows fed this poison (Spar may be the exception). Consumers have been betrayed. I predict a huge and unsatisfied demand now for organic milk certified by the Soil Association because they have confirmed that farms supplying organic milk or meat are not permitted to feed Bovaer to their herds. Of course, that situation might change and consumers would be the last to know, judging by this latest fiasco. Time to find a local dairy and get milk delivered to your door after you confirm that they are not trying to ‘save the planet’ by stopping their cows farting naturally.
