You might have have noticed if you live in the UK that it’s been a very mild October. The proximate cause of this warmth has been a very active jet stream consistently winding its way as far south as southern Spain and drawing very warm air north to the UK. Spain itself has basked in temperatures of 30C, benefiting from a hot air envelope extending across the Mediterranean from the Sahara.
The climate cult fanatics of course will tell you that it’s all down to global warming, which is why they’ve jetted off to Sharm-El-Sheikh to plot the next move in the Global Austerity and Great Wealth Redistribution Campaign, aka Agenda 2030, aka The Great Reset. Rashi Sanook was originally not going to COP27, then he was, and now he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going. Green King Charlie would love to be there spouting his usual brand of turd-polishing pseudoscience and neo-Malthusian plum in the mouth socio-politics, which ageing members of the British establishment seem to be uniquely accomplished in. But his handlers need to carefully consider the optics at this stage of the Game.
Anyways, here’s the jet stream now (red is higher velocity upper airstream winds):
It’s going to keep blasting the British Isles until Armistice Day whereafter, according to the latest jet stream forecast, high pressure is going to build and an uncommon wind and rain amnesty shall prevail over Blighty for at least a week - an amnesty which I’m sure we all agree will be rather more welcome than an Emily Oster type amnesty! The Big Guns of the wild and winding jet stream will be temporarily silenced across northern Europe from November 11th onwards. How apt and poignantly symbolic is that? Of course, this is only a forecast, using weather models combined with current meteorological data, so it’s subject to change.
Here’s the change starting to happen on November 11th (note the North West is still being blasted):
Here is what the picture looks like at midnight on November 15th. Classic high pressure cell:
So, expect light winds and chiller nights come mid November.
The high pressure cell tries its best to assert itself over the UK but gets squeezed out by a powerful jet stream in the latest run. But this now looks interesting for late November. The jet stream is way south, pounding Spain and southern France, allowing cold Arctic air to spread across the UK. So, we might be looking at some serious cold weather by November 21st and not much wind, which means the UK will be reliant upon fossil fuel generated electricity.

The European-wide anticyclone in 2010 lasted for weeks. It was so cold that my car windscreen washer froze up. I had to stop every few miles driving from Inverness to Glasgow to wipe the road salt away.
