As is often the case when the issue of geoengineering pops up, I find myself at odds with the crowd. I’m sorry, but I really can’t take this particular scare story seriously.
No, it’s not scary AF, it’s ridiculous AF, as ridiculous as believing that we are living through a scary AF ‘climate crisis’ caused by cars and gas boilers!
I know I’m probably wasting my time trying to convince people that geoengineering (either in the future or being carried out now, via the ubiquitous ‘chemtrails’) is highly unlikely to become a threat to the human race and the health of the planet. Even if the megalomaniac morons actually managed to cool the planet by injecting enough aerosols into the stratosphere, the effect would be temporary, as it is with volcanoes. To make it permanent, they would have to keep airlifting millions of tons of sulphur and other chemicals into the upper atmosphere. As soon as they stopped, the climate would warm again. They’re not going to flip us into an irreversible Ice Age doing that, as many on X are warning. But the belief in the efficacy and existence of geoengineering is now pervasive on social media. I believe the government is playing to that audience by announcing that they are going to authorise stratospheric aerosol injection experiments and marine cloud brightening - just like they intend to spaff millions removing carbon from sea water FFS. They’re trolling us - and spending our hard earned money at the same time. And it’s working.
After ‘deploying the new variant to scare the pants off us’ in 2020, they’re now deploying the geoengineering con trick to scare the pants off us: ‘Oh no, they’re going to cause an Ice Age and I won’t be able to sunbathe in summer and the crops won’t grow and muh rooftop solar panels won’t work!’ If they scare enough gullible people by saying we need to block the sun (in rain-drenched, cloud bolted Little Britain) because not enough people are choosing EVs, smart tariffs, and heat pumps, then maybe they’ll get more people to adopt Net Zero measures. That really is how these crazies think.
I love Alex Jones, I really do, but he's so off target with this one, trying to convince his followers that the UK government has now admitted that 'chemtrails are real'. NO, they haven't!

You are spot on. Having played and then worked outside all my life I can't understand how people have lost touch with the weather. They should read Gilbert White's diaries to see nothing has changed since 1750 s. I give up at the gullability of the general population.
