To summarize here are the big issues the DoE report gets right.....

Climate change is mild, impacts are small, and mostly benign, and the crazy predictions using models don’t work.

And maybe CO2 is not the main driver of temperature and may actually be more beneficial than harmful.

And so… NetZero is unnecessary, technologically unattainable, economically unviable and extremely foolish.

Just so you know here is where the discussion is headed…..

1. The so-called official peer review entities such as the IPCC and the other traditional establishments have been found to be fraudulent more through political subjugation than pure lies but the result is the same .. they cannot be trusted with the truth. Hence why alternative scientific review groups have formed such as the DoE team, CLINTEL and CO2 Coalition etc… Its only time before they become the baseline for the review of the science.

2. The theory of CO2 being a prime participant in global warming and that it has any effect as a GHG is now in question with many compelling scientific reports and presentations being prepared for publication.

3. Alternative drivers of climate many of which are not in any way caused by humans is now under review and some of them use proven science and are very compelling .

4. Even the short and long range measurement of global warming that has generated the hockey stick is now being questioned due to both the UHIE and quite frankly the corruption of the data.

5. The predictions of a climate emergency are now suspect due to both the issues already mentioned and the climate models that are not fit for such a purpose.

6. The IMPACT of any climate change so far has been benign and in some cases shows no adverse trends and some are assisting human flourishing such as increased low temperatures milding the climate and increasing the growing seasons and more CO2 improving the growth of the plants….

Most of these were mentioned in recent reports including the DoE and its very clear we will be undertaking national level reviews of climate science that I am sure will validate these statements and expose the truth.

I think I have misunderstood ! this sounds very sensible and understandable.. should I go for a sleep to clear my head ?

For many activists the truth will be very hard to swallow and they may go into "denial" but i guess its nice to see this word used differently.

The report damns the hocus pocus of EEA. As the report points out, it is well documented that extreme weather events were extremely severe in the 18th century, i.e. during the Little Ice Age.

I understand that the increased temperature differential during the LIA between our colder northern latitudes and the warmer tropics caused more intense storms. ChatGPT concurs. If so, global warming should give us fewer such events. It’s the science, stupid!

The amusing truth is that climate alarmists have their extreme weather fearmongering due to global warming the wrong way round, as recorded in this Paul Homewood mega-post: https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2022/05/08/extreme-weather-during-the-maunder-minimum/.

As you hint in your post, this is mostly a political and ideological campaign. When the political tide goes out, as it has done in the US, we find out who has been swimming naked.

Although there's a long way to go, we may even be witnessing a return to Enlightenment values!

That would be nice: I'm suffering repeated bouts of PED (Post Enlightenment Depression)!

Jaime,

I am sure John Ridgway will be interested in this.

Yes, the stuff about probability distributions is right up his street and he has also published criticisms along those lines.
