Yes, yes, I know he’s not the President, but he was the President and he probably would still be the President if not for widespread mail-in and electronic voting fraud in 2020, and he probably will be Commander-in-Chief in November 2024 if they don’t manage to murder him or put him in jail beforehand.
I have very deep misgivings about how in God’s name a 20 year old shooter was able to clamber on top of a building just a few hundred yards from where Trump was on stage, complete with assault rifle, and then get off a few rounds before eventually being shot dead by a police sniper on a nearby roof. Incompetence just doesn’t cut it. None of the attempted ‘official’ explanations make any sense.
So with this in mind, I am very much open to carefully considered, cogently argued, rationally inspired conspiracy theories. But there are lots of people on social media claiming that this was all somehow staged, that the shooter deliberately missed Trump (whilst killing another spectator and seriously injuring two more), even some saying that he was firing blanks and that the ear injury was faked using a ‘blood bag’ (and thus also I presume the death and serious injuries too). This is ‘The Bullet That Dodged The President’s Head Conspiracy’ and I think it’s bullshit. I’m not alone:
Conspiracy theorising can become an addiction for some. It’s like peeling an onion. You remove one layer wondering what lies beneath, then you cannot resist removing another layer, and then another, just for the sheer hell of it, because reality can never be obvious, it must always be hidden by dark, nefarious forces at work in society. I doubt it’s like that. Nefarious intent and cover ups and malicious machinations are real to be sure, but naked apes do not play 5D chess. AI might play 5D chess at some point, but that’s another story.
Anyway, I’m glad that Trump’s OK but very sad that this man had to die:
It's the plot of the next Bond movie.
In the immediate aftermath, Trump thanked the secret service for saving his life. Now he’s had further evidence of their incompetence (was it cockup or conspiracy) he may have cause to reconsider that sentiment.
Maybe Trump will be minded to release the rest of the JFK files. According to Roger Stone he kept back 20% of them in 2017 because they were so horrible.
