Oh, For The Days When Curtailment Simply Putting Less Coal In The Power Station Furnaces!

A BILLION pounds in just 11 months to effectively waste excess electricity from too many wind turbines, either because supply exceeds demand and/or the glut of zero-inertia wind turbine electricity would seriously destabilise a national grid designed to absorb high inertia thermal power from fossil fuel and nuclear generators. That is the madness of Net Zero renewables. And it’s going to get much worse, as David Turver points out:

“We need to build lots more wind turbines on land and on sea and carpet pristine farmland with thousands of acres of solar panels, and build loads more mega pylons in the countryside, so we can boast about meeting 100% of peak electricity demand with 100% ‘clean energy’ even when the wind isn’t blowing very hard; but when it is very windy and demand is low, we can still boast about meeting 100% of demand with ‘clean energy’ because - genius! - we’ll turn most of them off, and what’s even more genius is we’ll charge you, the consumer, for doing so! Hahaha! Oh, and when the wind isn’t blowing at all and the sun isn’t shining, we’ll power down your home appliances with a smart meter and charge you an extortionate rate for any electricity you do dare to use. Fucking ace, eh?”

Oh, for the days when, during times of low demand, all the sane people running the national grid had to do in order to curtail power output was instruct power station operators to shovel less British coal into the furnaces! Simples - and it cost the consumer less, not more!
