I've Given Up on Gettr

I deleted my account on 25th September. Something’s not quite right. Interactions are extremely limited for a ‘social media’ free speech platform. It’s extremely difficult to get a conversation thread going or get likes and shares on comments or posts. Other users were also complaining; some even suggested they were shadow-banned. My stats were abysmal; even on bad days, and with Twitter throttling my account, I got more likes, shares and impressions on that disgustingly censorious platform than I was getting on Gettr.

Bill Mitchell, who has 78k followers, is often complaining about the lack of interaction and unwanted Chinese followers on his feed.

I was finding that I was continually being followed by Chinese accounts claiming to oppose the CCP, often with exactly the same English text in their profiles. I started blocking them but found two accounts which supposedly no longer existed yet still remained on my followers list! All rather odd. Gettr was, along with Jason Miller, partly founded by a Chinese dissident billionaire who provided the template for the tech platform I believe. That might explain the Chinese followers, but it does not justify unsolicited interactions with Western accounts which have shown no particular interest in following Chinese issues.

Another problem I have is the appearance of Nigel Farage on the platform and his immediate hero worship by Jason Miller. I don’t trust Farage. This is why:

But I’m just a madcap conspiracy theorist and incorrigibly paranoid; I’m sure everything is AOK at Gettr and it will eventually grow into the free speech platform to rival Twitter which Miller hopes it will. Good luck. I’m probably not going to be on board when it does.
