Anglican Christians Will Soon Be Members Of 'Of'?

No, the headline is not a typo, it’s the logical conclusion of what is happening right now in the Church of England. Because the Anglican Church wants to drop the word ‘Church’ in order to be more modern and inclusive:

The Church of England is increasingly dropping the word “church” in favour of “relevant and modern-sounding” descriptions such as “community”, a new study suggests.

The Anglican church appears to be increasingly avoiding the word “church” when discussing the creation of new worshipping communities and congregations, a report has found.

Dr Foulger suggested that the Church of England might be moving away from using the word “church” as part of a cultural rejuvenation.

He said that the word “church” was not comprehensive enough “to describe what it is that these dioceses have been starting”, adding that the phrase “new things” might be more appropriate.

A spokesman for the Church of England told The Telegraph that one reason why the word “church” appears less often in description of “new worshipping communities” is that these forms of worship can exist outside of traditional bricks-and-mortar churches.

‘Communities’ eh? Does this mean that Church (sorry, Community) leaders will now get the option to police themselves when faced with any ‘far right’ protestors or other threats? Will we see Christians running around the streets, wielding weapons, largely ignored by the Fuzz except for being advised to stash their weapons at the local ‘community place of worship’?

But you can see where this is going can’t you? Once the Church of England drops the word ‘Church’, it will only be a matter of time before they drop the word England too because of the obvious far right connotations. Then all that will be left is ‘of’? Anglican Christians will then become members of ‘of’! Catchy.
