I’ve just switched off from the ‘directed energy weapon’ narrative following the tragedy in Maui. There is sufficient evidence and sufficient cause to accept that the fire which engulfed the town and which has claimed countless human and animal lives was an entirely natural conflagration, albeit with the very likely possibility that it was ignited unnaturally, through human agency, be that through carelessness or malice. I totally get that nobody trusts our governments anymore, but the proliferation of outlandish conspiracy theories, with little or no evidence to back them up, following almost every natural catastrophe, is becoming a serious distraction and an obstacle to uncovering the actual truth.
Take this nonsense from Stew Peters for example. Peters has a large audience. He really should know better and act with a lot more responsibility, because many of his viewers will believe this garbage:
Some ‘context’ on this post was added by Twitter:
Not particularly useful or accurate I have to say. I thought ‘X’ was ramping up the throttling of damaging conspiratorial views and ‘lawful but awful’ content on their site? That was a pretty half-hearted attempt to correct Peters’ misinformation in my view. If you want real context, then there’s this from meteorologist Cliff Mass:
Lahaina was hit by powerful winds, with gusts exceeding 60 mph. Winds that provided oxygen to the fires, pushed the fire quickly forward, and downed powerlines, helping spark the fires.
There is a lot of talk about the winds coming from hurricane Dora, which passed 800 km to the south of Hawaii (see satellite image below).
The winds that hit Lahaina were NOT hurricane winds.
The winds that helped destroy Lahaina were caused by strong trade winds, produced mainly by enhanced high pressure to the north, interacting with Maui terrain to produce strong/dry downslope winds.
These were localized strong winds that amazingly were well predicted by the NOAA HRRR model and others.
Peters then goes on to tweet this:
The picture is of the boats burning in Lahaina harbour, ignited no doubt by wind blown embers from the town.
What an absolute plonker! Can anyone be that stupid or irresponsible? I have my doubts. So what’s his game if he isn’t actually that thick?
This time, the ‘X’ context is rather more on target:
None of this speculation is useful; it’s actually counterproductive to getting to the truth. Because we have the governor of Hawaii spouting equally absurd nonsense in defence of the claim that ‘climate change’ caused the Maui fires:
This utter plonker calls the Lahaina conflagration a ‘hurricane fire in the era of global warming’, conveniently skipping over the fact that the drought was caused by natural variability, the fire was fuelled by flammable grasses and wooden buildings, started by human hand or human error and the siren warning system was turned OFF. That’s two absolute plonkers on both sides of the fence. What’s that song again? ‘Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you.’ These idiots are dishonouring the dead of Lahaina by obscuring the truth with the foggy foggy dew of climate crisis bullshit and directed energy weapons.
Postscript:
In case anyone’s wondering about the ‘foggy foggy dew’ reference, it’s an old English folk song:
Thanks for this objective report. The key issue, of course, is ignition cause. As a former resident of both Quebec and Alberta, those fires were clearly, in large part, of human origin. I mapped logging roads to fires in Quebec. Not good. Plus, a College of DuPage report showed the Quebec fires all ignited at the same time. Then we have the underbrush mgmt. Since natural underbrush/old growth fires have been suppressed, we have a surfeit of kindling now... which of course, cannot be removed thanks the the fasco-Marxist greenies
There is some specific malice lately, which I was underestimating. Here in Spokane, several major brushfires started on one day, with nothing special in the weather. No wind, no lightning. The fires were started by one woman who had announced her intention in graffiti. She was caught and released as usual in Soros land.
